NTL CROSS COUNTRY: HUGHEY PACES SAYRE'S EFFORTS IN OPENING DUALS (2019-09-10)

LITCHFIELD "" Kayla Hughey finished third to lead Sayre's efforts in its season-opening double-dual meet here Tuesday afternoon in NTL cross country action.

Both the Sayre boys and girls are incomplete and dropped 15-50 decisions to Wellsboro and Towanda.

GIRLS
Hughey finished third in a time of 19:33, while Lucy College was eighth in 21:54, and Corey Ault was 18th in 29:29.

Wellsboro's Madeline Gage won the race in a time of 19:22, and Towanda's Erica Locke was second in 19:31.

BOYS
Logan Goodenau and Jace Henry each finished in the top 10 to pace the Redskins.

Goodenau clocked in at 19:42 to finish ninth, and Henry was 10th in 20:07, while Nathan Romano was 13th in 20:25, and Gavin Rucker was 18th in 25:07.

Wellsboro's Austin Richards won the race in 16:10, while Wellsboro's Aidan Fletcher was second in 18:01 and Towanda's Jasiek Zalewski was third in 18:58.

Sayre returns to action Saturday at the Owego Invitational.

JUNIOR HIGH
Sayre's Braylon Slater finished third in the junior high race in a time of 11:56, while Elizabeth Vosburg was 11th in 14:31, and Aimee Bailey was 15th in 15:10.
