ITHACA "" Athens grad Kaidon Winters, a junior on the RIT wrestling team, placed third, and Tioga grad Austin Lamb, a freshman, placed sixth in his first collegiate action here Friday and Saturday at the Ithaca Invitational.

Athens grad Nate Bradley, a sophomore at RIT, went 3-2 on the day, but did not place, and Athens grad Chris Horton, also a sophomore, was 0-2.

Wrestling as the top seed in the 165-pound weight class, Winters opened with a 29-second fall of Dimities Tartsinis of Western New England, then blanked Michael Angers of Casterton, 6-0, in the second round.

In the quarterfinals, Winters was upended in a 10-4 decision by Oswego State's Charlie Grygas, who went on to lose in the finals to sixth-seed Christian Gramugila of Oswego State via fall in 2:26.

Winters won his next three bouts via fall to advance to the finals. He opened consolation-bracket action with a pin of fifth-seed Steven Ocampo of Johnson & Wales in 2:29, then decked eighth-seed Zach Lawrence of Springfield in 1:33.

In the consolation-bracket semifinals, Winters flattened seventh-seed Jeff Suschana of Western New England in 1:12.

In the third-place match, Winters forged a 9-2 decision over third-seed Cole Karam of NYU.

Wrestling in the 149-pound bracket, Lamb won his first collegiate match with a 13-6 decision over Conner Deboe of Baldwin-Wallace, then advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-2 overtime decision over sixth-seed Michael Vietri of Springfield.

In the quarterfinals, Lamb dropped a 3-1 overtime decision to third-seed Max Tempel of Castleton.

Lamb won his first two matches in wrestlebacks, beat Ithaca COllege's Matt Beyer, 8-2. He followed it up with a 6-4 decision over seventh-seed Marvin Cunningham of Johnson & Wales.

In the consolation semifinals, Lamb dropped a 9-3 decision to fifth-seed Tanner McHugh of Baldwin-Wallace. In the fifth-place match, Lamb dropped a 5-3 decision in a re-match with Tempel.

Wrestling at 184 pounds, Bradley, who missed last season with an injury, won his first collegiate match with a 9-7 decision over seventh-seed Alex Green of Caslteton.

Bradley dropped a 14-4 major decision to Davey Goodall of Western New England in the second round, but bounced back with a 6-4 OT win over Joe Gannone of Johnson & Wales.

Bradley moved on with a hard-fought, 10-8 decision over Adam Green of Baldwin-Wallace, but was eliminated with a 12-4 major decision loss to Nicholas Munsch of Johnson & Wales.

Wrestling at 133 pounds, Horton, the sixth-seed, lost via fall in 5:57 to Johnson & Wales' Hayden Brown in his opening bout. Brown went on to win the weight class, beating top seed Tito Colom of Ithaca College, 5-2, in the finals.
