TIOGA CENTER — Tioga started fast, and finished strong in a 3-1 win over Deposit-Hancock here Tuesday night in the Section IV, Class D quarterfinals to advance to semi-final pool play action for the 11th straight season.
The Lady Tigers, now 14-5, opened the night with a 25-13 win, and took command of the match with a 25-19 win in the second set.
The Lady Lumberjacks won a hard-fought 25-23 decision in the third set, but Tioga closed out the match with a convincing 25-7 win in the fourth set.
Senior Chloe Bellis led Tioga with 12 service points, including four aces, 14 setter assists, 10 kills, one block, and six digs, while sophomore Emme Hall had five points, eight kills, one block, and seven digs, and senior Giovanna Rossi registered 13 kills and seven digs.
Senior Madison Macumber had four points, including three aces, 12 assists, and two kills in the win, while junior Kaitlyn Perry had five points and eight assists, senior Bri Rossi recorded 12 digs, sophomore Julia Bellis added five digs, senior Shaina Franks notched two kills, and sophomore Molly Bombard and sophomore Austyn Vance each chipped in with two digs.
In other Class D matches, top-seed Candor swept eighth-seed Walton (25-6, 25-8, and 25-16), while second-seed Bainbridge-Guilford swept seventh-seed Oxford (25-4, 25-17, 25-5); and fourth-seed Union Springs swept ffith-seed Moravia (25-19, 25-12, 25-14).
Tioga, B-G, and Union Springs will be in action Thursday at Candor at 4:15 p.m.
