IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: DELHI BLOWS GAME OPEN LATE IN 58-37 WIN OVER TIOGA (2020-01-12)

POPLAR RIDGE - Delhi used a big fourth-quarter run to blow open a close game here Saturday afternoon on its way to a 58-37 win over Tioga in IAC Small School junior varsity boys basketball action.

Keon Staples scored nine points, and Shea Bailey canned a 3-pointer in the first quarter, but the junior Bulldogs led 15-12 at the end of the first eight minutes.

Tioga scored all six of its points in the second quarter from the free-throw line, but its defense held Delhi to six points. The junior Tigers trailed 21-18 at the half.

Staples scored eight points in the third quarter, while Josh Reis added five, and Shea Bailey knocked down another 3-pointer, but Delhi also found the range in the quarter, and upped its lead to five points, 39-34, heading into the final eight minutes.

The junior Bulldogs put the game away with a 19-3 fourth-quarter blitz. Bryce Bailey's 3-pointer accounted for Tioga's scoring.

Staples led Tioga with 19 points, while Reis scored seven points, Shea Bailey added six points, and Bryce Bailey added five points.

Tioga returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Notre Dame.
