THE WEEK AHEAD: HOOP REGULAR-SEASON ENDS; POST-SEASON UNDER WAY IN EVERYTHING ELSE (2020-02-09)

THE VALLEY - The basketball regular season comes to an end this week, while the postseason in just about every other sports gets under way. On Saturday, Section IV wrestlers vie for a berth at the New York State championships.

There are 24 events on the docket this week, including six on Monday and six on Saturday.

The following are some, not all, of the week's top events:

MONDAY (6)
"¢ Waverly hosts NTL power Troy in a non-league boys basketball contest.

"¢ The Athens girls host Troy on the hardwoods, while the Sayre girls close out their 2019-20 campaign at NEB.

"¢ The Tioga girls host IAC Small School rival S-VE, while the Tioga boys are at S-VE.

TUESDAY (3)

"¢ Waverly hosts Section V power Hornell in a non-league girls basketball game.

"¢ The Tioga girls host IAC North rival Marathon on the hardwoods, while the Tioga boys are not he road to Marathon.

WEDNESDAY (3)
"¢ Athens and Sayre are in action at the NTL Swimming & Diving Championships at Towanda.

"¢ The Tioga girls host non-league rival Towanda in their third home basketball game in as many nights.

THURSDAY (3)
"¢ The Athens boys host Canton in the opening round of the NTL Showdown. The Lady Wildcats will also be in action, but the site and opponent has yet to be determined.

"¢ The Waverly girls wrap up their IAC basketball slate at Watkins Glen.

FRIDAY (3)
"¢ The Waverly girls compete in the Section IV, Class C bowling championships at Vestal's Midway Lanes, while Tioga bowls in the Class D championships.

"¢ The Sayre boys host Montgomery in the regular-season finale.

"¢ The Lady Wolverines host Class AA Binghamton on the hardwoods.

SATURDAY (6)

"¢ Thirteen Tioga grapplers and six Waverly wrestlers will compete for a trip to States at the Section IV, Division 2 Championships at the Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.

"¢ The Athens and Sayre wrestlers begin their quest for a trip to States at the North Section Tournament at the Troy Commons Building.

"¢ Waverly hosts the IAC Boys Swimming & Diving Championships.

"¢ The Waverly boys compete in the Section IV, Class C bowling championships at Vestal's Midway Lanes, while Tioga bowls in the Class D championships.

"¢ Waverly competes at the Section IV Indoor Track & Field State Qualifier at Cornell University.

"¢ The Waverly boys wrap up the 2019-20 regular season at home against Chenango Forks.
