Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY - There are six basketball games on the docket tonight, including four re-scheduled from Friday's snow outs. The Waverly boys, and Athens and Tioga girls are at home, while the Sayre girls wrap up their 2019-20 campaign.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Athens (14-6) at Thomas A. Edison (4-13), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Wildcats are coming off a 79-54 loss to unbeaten Loyalsock Saturday, while the Spartans dropped a 63-42 decision to Waverly at Elmira's First Arena Thursday.
Earlier this season, Athens topped Edison, 48-32.
Tioga (5-13 overall, 1-9 IAC Small) at S-VE (7-9, 4-6), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Tigers are coming off a 48-34 win over Newark Valley Saturday, while the Panthers topped Edison, 64-51, Tuesday.
Tioga needs to win two of its final three games to qualify for the upcoming Section IV playoffs. They host Marathon Tuesday, and Towanda Wednesday.
Earlier this season, S-VE topped Tioga, 52-38.
Troy (14-7) at Waverly (14-3), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Wolverines are coming off a 63-43 win over Edison Thursday, while the Trojans topped Canton, 64-50, Saturday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
S-VE at Tioga (6-11), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Lady Tigers are coming off a 60-53 loss at O-M Tuesday, while the Lady Panthers
Earlier this season, Tioga topped S-VE, 40-30.
Troy (4-16 overall, 3-11 NTL Large) at Athens (17-4, 13-2), 6:30 p.m. (varsity only): The Wildcats are coming off a 47-29 win over Lansing Saturday, while the Lady Trojans dropped a 55-27 decision to Wellsboro Wednesday.
In their first encounter, Athens rolled to a 54-23 win at Troy.
Sayre (5-15, 5-10 NTL Small) at NEB (18-3, 14-1), 7 p.m. (varsity only): The Lady Redskins are coming off a 40-36 loss at Canton Wednesday, while the Lady Panthers knocked off Cowanesque Valley, 52-41.
In their first meeting, NEB won at Sayre, 43-30.
