LERAYSVILLE "" Small School champion Northeast Bradford jumped out to a big lead early, and handed Sayre a 54-22 defeat in its season finale here Monday night in NTL girls basketball action.

"NEB is right where a team should be going into the postseason as a division champion, and a District top seed," said Sayre coach Eileen Sparduti. "They took the ball inside early and executed both from the post and hit perimeter shots.

"Meanwhile, our offense could not get on track, which only added to the scoring differential," added Sparduti.

The Lady Redskins finish the season with a 5-16 record.

"I am proud of the heart this group showed - not only tonight, but across this entire season," said Sparduti. :Many challenges were more than we could currently meet, but the lessons learned and the improvements made, will carry the program forward."

Vicki Rought scored six points in the first quarter, and Lauryn Jones drained a 3-pointer to fuel a 15-0 first-quarter blitz for the Lady Panthers.

Senior Emily Strike scored five points for the Lady Redskins in the second quarter, but Rought had five more points, and Jones hit another 3-pointer as NEB upped its lead to 30-9 at the half.

Sutryk and junior Gabbi Randall scored four points apiece for Sayre in the third quarter, but the Lady Panthers used a 16-8 advantage in the stanza to take a 46-17 lead into the final eight minutes.

Sutryk led Sayre with 10 points, three rebounds, and two steals, while Randall had eight points, eight rebounds, and two steals, senior Madi LaManna added six rebounds and two assists, and sophomore Jazz DeKay grabbed four boards.

Rought led NEB with 17 points and Jones, who connected on a trio of 3-pointers, added 11 points.
