NTL JUNIOR HIGH SWIMMING: ATHENS BOYS, GIRLS WIN TITLES AT LEAGUE MEET (2020-02-13)

ATHENS "" The Athens boys and girls both won team titles here Monday at the NTL junior high swimming & diving championships.

BOYS
Athens 152, Towanda 13, Sayre 11

Ethan Hicks, Ryan Gorman, and Ronel Ankem each won four events as Athens won all eight events to run away with the team title.

The junior Wildcats amassed 152 points, while Towanda had 13, and Sayre 11.

Hicks, Gorman, and Ankem teamed with Josh Leonard to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:23.84. The same trio teamed with Carter Lewis to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:03.34.

Hicks won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:08.78, while Athens' Lynn Derstine was second in 1:22.53, and Sayre's Liam Barry was third in 1:43.59. Hicks also won the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:22.1.

Ankem led a sweep of the top four spots in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in at 29.25 seconds. Lewis was second in 31.75 seconds, while Derstine was third in 36.53 seconds, and Leonard was fourth in 38.32 seconds.

Ankem also won the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 38.63 seconds, and Lewis was second in 43.69 seconds.

Gorman won the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 35.53 seconds, and Leonard was second in 41.64 seconds. Gorman also won the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 41.25 seconds, and Athens' David Derrig was third in 1:07.59.

GIRLS
Athens 171, Towanda 127, Sayre 3

Athens won seven of eight events, led by quad-winners Evelyn Reynolds and Emily Marshall, and double-winners Emily Henderson and Grace Cobb, to win the team title.

Athens tallied 171 points, while Towanda had 127 points, and Sayre had 3.

Reynolds and Marshall teamed with Henderson and Cobb to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:32.7.

Reynolds, Marshall, and Cobb teamed with Rebecca Gifeisman to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:16.14.

Reynolds won the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 36.1 seconds, while Cobb was second at 43.58 seconds, and Jillian Bradley was fourth at 1:03.44. Reynolds also won the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:12.85.

Marshall won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:08.6, and Cobb was third in 1:11.03.
Marshall also won the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 34.06 seconds.

Henderson won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 38.97 seconds, while Elizabeth Talada was third in 40.44 seconds, and Gifeisman was fourth in 40.73 seconds.

Talada finished second in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 48.09 seconds, while Gifeisman was third in 48.9 seconds, and Henderson was fourth in 50.31 seconds.
