COLLEGE BASEBALL: TRIO VALLEY OF VALLEY GRADS LEAD ST. BONAVENTURE TO FIRST WIN (2021-04-04)

FAIRFAX, Va. - Sayre grad Matt Williams, Waverly grad Brendyn Stillman, and Tioga grad Pierce Hendershot combined for five hits to help St. Bonaventure to an 8-3 win over George Mason - its first win of 2021 - in the nightcap of a doubleheader here Saturday afternoon.

The Bonnies went 1-3 in the four-game series against GMU, but the Valley trio combined for 14 hits and 10 RBI.

On Friday - a 9-6 St. Bonaventure loss, Williams cracked a two-run home run - his first of the season - and scored two runs, while Hendershot had three hits, including his first extra-base hit, a triple, the first two RBI of his career, and the first run scored of his career. Stillman singled and drove in one run.

In the first game of Saturday's twinbill, Henderson singled in three at-bats, while Williams and Stillman were both 0-for-3 in a 2-1 St. Bonaventure loss.

In the nightcap, Stillman doubled and singled and scored two run, and Williams singled twice, scored two, and drove in one run. Hendershot singled and drove in one run.

On Sunday, Williams tripled and doubled, and had three RBI, and Stillman singled and knocked in one run. Hendershot was 0-for-4.

On the season, Hendershot, who has started seven of eight games, is hitting .269 (seven hits in 30 ABs) with one triple, one run scored, and three RBI.

Stillman, who has started all eight games, is hitting .212 (seven hits in 33 ABs) with three doubles, two RBI, and five runs scored.

Williams, who has started all eight games, is hitting .233 (seven hits in 32 ABs), with one double, one triple, one home run, six runs scored and six RBI.

St. Bonaventure, now 1-8, returns to action Friday for the start of a three-game series at Fordham.
