COLLEGE SOCCER: WAVERLY GRAD ORTIZ PLAYING INCREASING MINUTES AT SIENA COLLEGE (2021-04-04)

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Waverly grad Melina Ortiz, a freshman on the Siena College women’s soccer team, has played in each of the unbeaten Lady Saints’ first four games.
Ortiz, a freshman defensive back, played 51 minutes in Saturday’s 1-1 double-overtime tie against Monmouth.
On Friday, Ortiz, who has played in four of Siena’s five games, played 45 minutes in a 1-0 win over Niagara.
In her first two games, Ortiz played 27 and 39 minutes. She is averaging 40.5 minutes per game.
Siena, now 4-0-1, had its game Tuesday at Marist canceled, and will now return to action Friday in the MAAC quarterfinals.
