COLLEGE GOLF: WAVERLY GRAD TOMASSO FIRES CAREER-BEST ROUND TO CAP 15TH-PLACE FINISH AT FDU INVITE (2021-04-05)

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — Waverly grad Alex Tomasso, a sophomore on the Merrimack women’s golf team, fired a career-best round of 76 Saturday in the second round of the Fairleigh Dickinson University Invite here at the Penn National Golf Club.
Tomasso’s round of 76 was the low for Day 2, and was seven strokes better than the second-best round of the day.
Tomasso, who shot an 86 in the opening round, tallied a two-day total of 162 to finished tied for 15th overall.
On March 25-26, Tomasso shot matching rounds of 80 for a two-day total of 160 to finish in a tie for 20th at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course.
The Lady Warriors return to the Penn National Golf Course for the Northeast Conference Championships April 16-18. Prior to that, they have one final tune-up — the Sacred Hart Invite on April 11-12 — at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn.
