Valley Sports ReportGREENVILLE, N.C. - Waverly grad Melina Ortiz, a freshman on the Siena College women's soccer team, logged 42 minutes in the Saints' 4-0 loss to Arizona State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament here Wednesday at Johnson Stadium on the campus of East Carolina University.
Ortiz, a defensive back, recorded one of Siena's seven shots. It was the team's only shot-on-goal.
Ortiz played in eight of Siena's nine games this season, and averaged 41.1 minutes per game. She took two shots this season, one of which was on-goal.
