WYSOX — Athens piled 13 runs across the plate in the fourth inning — all with two outs — en route to a 21-4 four-inning rout of Towanda here Friday afternoon in NTL Large School Division baseball action.

The Wildcats took banged out nine hits in the win, and took advantage of 11 base on balls, and five Towanda errors.

Athens took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by sophomore Cam Sullivan.

Kaden Setzer ripped a two-RBI double in the second inning, and later scored on an error. Junior Karter Rude scored the final run in the rally with a steal of home.

The Wildcats added three unearned runs in the third inning to stretch its lead to 8-0.

Rude, sophomore Caleb Nichols, Dylan Merritt, and Garrett Thetga each had two-run singles in the fourth inning.

Kaden Setzer doubled, scored two runs, and collected three RBI, while Rude singled, scored two runs, stole two bases, and drove in two runs, and Nichols singled, scored twice, stole three bases, and knocked in two runs to pace Athens at the plate.

Merritt and Thetga each singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs in the win, while Kyler Setzer singled and scored three runs, sophomore Gage Warner singled, scored twice, and drove in one run, and Carson Smith and Sullivan each singled and knocked in one run.

Sophomore Lucas Kraft scored three runs for the Wildcats, while junior Tucker Brown scored two runs and drove in one run, and sophomore Jaren Glisson, senior Ben Vough and Jared Peterson each scored one run.

Kraft was the beneficiary of the Wildcat offensive onslaught. He allowed four runs — all unearned — on three hits, while striking out four and walking none to earn the win.

The Wildcats, now 7-6, returns to action Saturday. They play at Waverly at 10 a.m., then play at Tioga at 1 p.m.
