IAC JV SOFTBALL: TIOGA BANGS OUT 23-7 WIN OVER WAVERLY (2021-06-08)

WAVERLY - Tioga scored seven runs in the top of the third inning, and pulled away for a 23-7 six-inning win over Waverly here Friday afternoon in IAC junior varsity softball action.

Every batter in Tioga's line-up had at least two hits in a 26-hit barrage,

Tioga took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a one-out triple by Megan Vance, and an RBI single by Emily Sindoni.

Emily Bidwell and Kyra Bailey led off the third inning with back-to-back singles, and Sindoni added a one-out single to load the bases.

Consecutive RBI singles by Felicia Lantz and Bobbi Jo Tarbox made it 3-0. After a passed ball scored another run, Erin Luther belted an RBI double and Megan Shumway added an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-0.

Tioga scored it final run of the inning on a passed ball to make it 8-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the third, Allison Barrett smacked a triple - Waverly's first hit of the game - and scored on an RBI single by Lea VanAllen to put the junior Wolverines on the board.

Tioga added four more runs in the fourth inning to extend its lead to 12-1. The rally featured an RBI double by McKenzie Williams, an RBI single by Bidwell, and a triple by Shumway.

Leading 15-5 after five innings, Tioga scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Emily Sindoni was 5-for-5 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBI to pace Tioga at the plate, while Lantz had four hits, including a double, four runs scored, and one RBI, and Luther had three hits, including a double, two runs scored, and four RBI.

Shumway tripled, doubled, and singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs in the win, while Williams had three hits, including a double, four runs scored, and one RBI, and Tarbox singled twice, scored three runs, and drove in three runs.

Bailey singled twice, scored two runs and drove in a run for the junior Tigers, while Vance tripled and singled, and scored two runs, and Bidwell singled twice, scored one run, and knocked in two runs.

Tarbox earned the win for Tioga, allowing seven runs on 14 hits, while striking out five and walking two.

Brilynn Belles stroked three singles, scored one run, and drove in one run to lead Waverly's 14-hit attack, while Kailey Purvis singled twice and knocked in one run, Ciara Sindoni singled twice, scored one run, and drove in one run, and VanAllen singled twice and scored one run.

Barrett tripled and singled, scored one run, and drove in one run for the junior Wolverines, while Loralye Anthony and Maddison Cron each singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, Brinn Cooney added a single, and Liberty Hollywood scored one run.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday at Dryden, while Tioga hosts Thomas A. Edison.
