MARATHON - Freshman Tyler Roe and senior Zach Nichols led Tioga to an eighth-place finish Tuesday afternoon in the Section IV Boys Golf, Class C Championships here at Maple Hills Golf Course.
Roe led the Tigers with a 93, shooting a 46 on the front nine and a 47 on the back, while Nichols shot a 99 (50-49), and freshman Gianni Silvestri carded a 104 (48-56).
Freshman Evan Sickler (49-60) and Ben Davis (53-56) shot matching rounds of 109 for Tioga, and freshman Levi Bellis tacked on a 126 (58-68).
Chenango Forks ran away with the team title, shooting a four-player aggregate of 426, while runner-up Lansing carded a 461, and third-place SVEC had a 461.
Whitney Point finished fourth at 480, followed by Unadilla Valley (488), Bainbridge-Guilford (490), and Dryden (499) in fifth through seventh, respectively, while Tioga amassed 514 strokes, ninth-place Greene had 515, and 10th-place Norwich had 520.
Watkins Glen (524) and Trumansburg (563) rounded out the 12-team field in 11th and 12th, respectively.
Chenango Forks' Ryan Locke won Class C gold with a round of 74, while SVEC's Jacob Banks and Forks' Emily Gresham tied for second with rounds of 80, and Lansing's Tyler Kirk was fourth with an 81.
