Seventh-seeded Tioga (12-4) is on the road this afternoon to face third-seed Notre Dame (14-4-1) in the semifinals of the Section IV, Class C softball playoffs.
The Lady Tigers advanced with a 15-2 demolition of second-seeded Lansing in the quarterfinals, while the Lady Crusaders rolled past sixth-seeded Union Springs, 9-2.
Notre Dame topped Tioga, 6-1, Saturday in the IAC Championship game.
Notre Dame lost three in a row heading into the IAC postseason, but those contests were against Horseheads, Elmira, and Vestal.
In three postseason starts, Notre Dame ace Olivia Switzer has allowed one earned run in 16 1/3 innings, while fanning 26 and walking two.
In its last five games - all against Section IV playoff teams, Tioga is 4-1. Aside from the loss to Notre Dame, the Lady Tigers averaged 15 runs per contest against Edison, S-VE, Union Springs and Lansing.
