YOUTH BASEBALL (10U): NTLL FINISHES SECOND AT OWEGO TOURNAMENT (2021-07-14)

OWEGO — Nichols-Tioga had to wait until a second day to finish the 10C championship game at the Owego Little League 10U / 12U Tournament here.

Unfortunately for NTLL, it found itself in a 7-0 hole against Johnson City (Greenberg) when play resumed Wednesday and wasn't able to make up enough ground before falling, 8-2.

Before darkness halted play Tuesday, JC had built its cushion on the strength of a home run and six singles. night in the Endicott tournament.

On Wednesday, JC picked up where it left off, adding two more hits to finish off its half of the third inning with an 8-0 advantage. night in the Endicott tournament.

NTLL would pick up its first hit of the game on Landon Carlucci's one-out triple in the bottom of the third, but he was unable to score. night in the Endicott tournament.

JC managed a pair of walks in the fourth but it too couldn't plate a run. night in the Endicott tournament.

Harold Corby singled with one away in the fourth, Maison Fisher walked, then Corby took advantage of a passed ball to give NTLL a run. Jonah Powell would follow with an RBI double, bringing Fisher home to cut the gap to 8-2. night in the Endicott tournament.

Anthony Palmer added a one-out single in the sixth, but was stranded at first base. night in the Endicott tournament.

Carlucci was on the mound for the first four innings, striking out 10 batters while scattering nine hits and three walks. Maverick Thorpe threw the final two, striking out three, walking one and giving up two hits. night in the Endicott tournament.

NTLL, which has compiled a 9-4-1 record this summer, will face Binghamton Friday night in the Endicott tournament.
