ENDICOTT - Nichols-Tioga rebounded from a rough pool play round to win its first bracket game at the Union-Endicott 10U Tournament here Thursday.
Landon Carlucci fired a two-hitter as NTLL handily defeated Vestal, 11-0, in a 10B division elimination game.
Carlucci was also one of four players to deliver an extra-base hit as his lead-off triple in the bottom of the first inning would lead to the only run Nichols-Tioga would need. A bad throw would allow him to score on the play.
Maison Fisher followed that with a base on balls and Parker Jackson singled one out later to make it 2-0. With two away, Jonah Powell singled home a run and would score on a passed ball doubling the lead.
Liamm Comstock connected for a triple and scored on Anthony Parker's double, then Colin Wilson plated Parker with a double to give NTLL a 6-0 cushion.
In the second, Carlucci and Fisher drew walks, then Maverick Thorpe added an RBI single. Carlucci and Fisher score on passed balls for a 9-0 advantage.
Comstock doubled, Parker followed with an RBI triple and Wilson added a run-scoring single to account for NTLL's final runs of the evening.
Parker went 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI; Comstock was 2-for-2 with two runs; and Wilson was 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Thorpe, Jackson and Powell chipped in with one hit, one run and one RBI apiece. Carlucci added a hit and two runs, and Fisher tacked on a pair of runs.
Carlucci struck out three and walked one. He faced 15 batters, retiring the final 10. Both Vestal hits came in the first inning.
Nichols-Tioga, which fell to Binghamton, Chenango Valley and Susquehanna Valley on consecutive days in pool play over the weekend, faces Sus Valley Friday at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
