NEW BERLIN, Pa. — Jersey Shore jumped out to an early lead, then put the game away late in a 14-5 win over Athens here Thursday evening in the consolation bracket finals of the Section 3 Little League baseball playoffs.

The game was a near 180-degree reversal of the opening-round meeting between the two teams, which Athens won, 12-2.

Jersey Shore opened the game with three runs in the top of the first, and three more in the second to take a 6-1 lead.

Athens narrowed the gap to 7-3 after six innings, but Jersey Shore pushed seven runs across the plate in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.

Nick Grazul doubled and singled, scored one run and had one RBI, and Cooper Robinson singled and scored twice to pace Athens’ six-hit attack, while Karter Green and Eli Chapman each singled and drove in one run, Dylan Saxon singled, and Troy Rosenbloom scored one run and drove in one run.

Carson Rowe had the best turn on the mound for Athens, allowing four runs — all unearned — on two hits in 5 1/3 innings. He fanned six and walked five.
