THE VALLEY "" All eyes will be on Tioga tonight as the Lady Tigers host Candor on the hardwoods in a match-up of two of the premier volleyball programs in the area, but there is also a slew of other action on the docket.
VOLLEYBALL
Candor (2-0) at Tioga (2-0), 5 p.m. JV start: The Lady Tigers are coming off a sweep of Watkins Glen Thursday, while the Lady Indians rallied for a 3-1 win over Thomas A. Edison.
Tioga swept Edison in the season opener Tuesday.
S-VE (1-0) at Waverly (1-0), 5 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wolverines have been off since a season-opening sweep of Odessa-Montour last Tuesday. Just 24 hours later, the Lady Patterns posted a sweep of O-M.
Canton (1-0) at Athens (0-1), 6 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats dropped their season-opener at NEB Friday night, while the Warriors swept Towanda Wednesday.
BOYS SOCCER
Newark Valley (1-0-1) at Waverly (2-1), 7 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 3-0 win at Notre Dame Thursday, while the Cardinals played to a 2-2 draw with Notre Dame Tuesday.
GOLF
Athens (13-4), Sayre (9-3) at River Valley Golf Course, 1:30 p.m. @ Westfield, Pa.: Athens enters the match in second place - 1 game behind front-running Wellsboro, while Sayre, which missed one match due to a Covid quarantine, sits in third place.
Sayre senior Kannon VanDuzer leads the league in scoring average, while the Athens trio of junior Cameron Sullivan, freshman Dylan Saxon, and sophomore Evan Cooper are third, fifth, and ninth, respectively.
