PETERSBURG, Va. - Waverly grad Scott Woodring, a freshman on the Mansfield University men's basketball team, scored in double-figures in his collegiate debut, and hauled down double-digit rebounds in his second outing this weekend.
In Friday's 101-73 loss to Virginia State University, Woodring, who came off the bench and played 17 minutes, had 10 points and five rebounds. He was 4-for-10 from the field, and knocked down his only shot from behind the 3-point arc.
Saturday, Woodring, who started and played 24 minutes, had six points, 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, two assists, and one steal. He was 3-for-9 from the field.
Mansfield, now 0-2, returns to action Tuesday at Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester.
