COLLEGE WRESTLING: TIOGA GRAD WORTHING NAMED MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE 'WRESTLER OF WEEK' (2021-11-17)

CLEVELAND — After a big weekend at the Davidson Quad meet, including an upset win over a nationally-ranked wrestler, Tioga grad John Worthing, a redshirt freshman on the Clarion wrestling team, was named the Mid-American Conference “Wrestler of the Week.”

Worthing was 3-0  at the Davidson Quad Saturday to help the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 mark. His most impressive was was a 12-6 decision over Rutgers’ Jackson Turley, who is ranked seventh in the nation at 174 pounds. Truly was a 2021 All-American.

Worthing also topped Chattanooga’s Carial Tarter via decision, and pinned Davidson’s Steven Newell in his final bout of the day.

Worthing is 6-2 in the season is ranked 21st in WrestleStat’s national rankings, and is an honorable mention in FloWrestling’s most recent rankings.

Clarion returns to action Saturday at the Shorty Hitchcock Open at Millersville University.
