OSWEGO, N.Y. — Waverly grad Zoey Mennig, a senior on the SUNY Oswego softball team finished her college career in grand fashion April 30 in a season-ending doubleheader against SUNY Geneseo.
In the first game of the twinbill, Mennig was 1-for-4 at the plate, but the one hit was a grand slam home run — her career-high fifth round-tripper of the season.
In the nightcap, the was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, and her first stolen base of the season.
On the season, Mennig started 33 of Oswego’s 35 games, and hit a career-best .442 (42 hits in 95 at-bats), with 13 multi-hit games, including one four-hit game and three three-hit games. She had nine doubles, two triples, five home runs, 28 RBI, and 23 runs scored.
Defensively, she had a career-best .979 fielding percentage, with four errors in 187 defensive chances. She also threw out nine base-runners attempting to steal.
