Valley Sports Report
TULSA, Okla. — Tioga grad John Worthing, a redshirt sophomore on the Clarion University wrestling team, is the 33rd seed in the 174-pound weight class here at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships this weekend.

Worthing, 19-9 on the season, will square off with 32nd-seeded Will Miller (24-10) of Apalachin State in the preliminary round.

The winner will advance to face top-seeded and two-time defending national champion Carter Starroci (19-0) in the round-of-32. Worthing lost a 19-3 technical fall to Starroci in Clarion's loss at Penn State on Feb. 19.

Nebraska’s Mikey Labriola (25-1) is the second seed and will open against Lock Haven’s Tyler Stotlzfus (32-12).

Worthing beat Stoltzfus twice this season, including in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Championships.

Worthing, who entered the MAC tournament as the sixth seed, dropped a 4-1 decision to top-seeded Alex Cramer of Central Michigan, in the finals of the 174-pound bracket.

The action begins at noon on ESPN, and ESPN-Plus.
