
LEWISBURG - Athens senior Chris DeForest finished 31st in the 50-yard freestyle Wednesday afternoon at the PIAA Class AA Swimming & Diving Championships here at the Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University.
DeForest, who was seeded 31st, clocked in at 23.15 seconds, a bit slower than his seed time of 23.05 seconds.
The fastest time in the prelims belonged to senior Henry Miller, who was swimming unattached out of Southmoreland High School. He swam a new state record time of 20.42 seconds.
Sophomore Noah Powers of Blue Mountain was second at 20.57 seconds, and senior Lucas Hancock of Bishop McDevett was third at 20.64 seconds.
The slowest time to qualify for the A final was 21.82 seconds, while the slowest time to qualify for the B finals was 22.25 seconds.
DeForest will return to action Thursday with fellow senior Ethan Denlinger, and sophomores Ethan Hicks and Ronel Ankam in the 400-yard freestyle.
The foursome is seeded 26th at 3:27.29.
