THE VALLEY — Tioga is on the road at Delhi in a battle of state-ranked football teams Saturday afternoon to highlight a busy day that also includes Sayre football in action, as well as the Owego Cross Country Invitational, the Owego Volleyball Tournament, Day 2 of the Watkins Glen Swimming & Diving Invite, and soccer action.

FOOTBALL
Tioga (3-0 overall, 1-0 Div. V) at Delhi (3-0, 2-0), 1:30 p.m.:
The Tigers, ranked No. 1 in Class D, are coming off a 68-0 win over Harpursville Afton, while the Bulldogs, ranked No. 9, beat Bainbridge-Guilford, 49-14.

Delhi is averaging 430.3 yards per game in total offense — 376 on the ground, and 54.3 through the air.

Sam Davis leads the Bulldogs with 377 yards and two TDs, while Adam Cook has 243 yards and six TDs, Tanner Bracchy has 134 yards, and one TD, and Ian Johnson has 134 yards, and two TDs.

QB Charlie Haight has completed 52 percent (13 of 25) of his passes for 163 yards, and four TDs, with two interceptions. Angelo Krzyton is his leading target with eight catches for 142 yards, and three TDs.

Tioga is averaging 336.3 yards per game in total offense — 274.7 yards per game on the ground
and 61,7 yards per game through the air.

Senior QB Caden Bellis has completed 55 percent (11 of 20) of his passes for 195 yards and seven TDs, without being intercepted. Seven different receivers have at least one catch, with seniors Valentino Rossi (3 receptions for 57 yards, and two TDs) and Ben Leary (3-17-1) leading the way.

Drew Macumber leads Tioga on the ground with 327 yards and four TDs on 37 carries, while junior Jonah Lamb has 172 yards and three TDs on just eight carries, and Bellis has 170 yards and three TDs on 16 carries. In all, Tioga is averaging 9.8 yards per carry.

Sayre at Cowanesque Valley, 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 41-7 loss at Marian Catholic, while the Indians dropped a 58-30 decision at South Williamsport.

The Indians are averaging 372.5 yards per game — 250 yards per game on the ground, and 122.5 through the air.

Junior Fletcher Good leads the CV ground game with 369 yards and two TDs on 27 carries, while junior Tim Freeman has 223 yards and two TDs on 35 carries, junior QB Graham Hess has 216 yards and one TD on 29 carries, and freshman Dave Hess has 155 yards and two TDs on 26 carries. Overall, CV averages 8.2 yards per carry.

Graham Hess has completed 49 percent (16 of 34) of his passes for 490 yards, and nine TDs, with three interceptions. Good is his top target with 10 catches for 330 yards, and five TDs, while his brother Dave Hess has four grabs for 125 yards, and three TDs.

For Sayre, senior QB Tanner Green and junior wideout Nick Pellicano hooked up eight times for 135 yards against Canton in Week 1, but Green was injured early in Week 2 and has not played since.

Senior tailback Jake Bennett has been a bright spot for the Redskins.

CROSS COUNTRY

Athens, Waverly, Tioga at Owego Invitational, 9 a.m.:
Athens, Tioga, and Waverly will be competing in the 28-team field that also includes Owego, Chenango Valley, Newark Valley, North Penn-Mansfield, Seton Catholic, S-VE, Candor, Thomas A. Edison, Troy, Windsor, Binghamton, Corning, Elmira, Horseheads, Johnson City, Maine-Endwell, Union-Endicott, and Vestal.

BOYS SOCCER
Athens (3-3) at Midd-West (5-3), 11 a.m.:
The Wildcats is coming off an 8-0 shellacking of Towanda, while the Midd-West Wildcats dropped a 2-1 decision at Montoursville.

Waverly (1-6) at Horseheads, 11 a.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 5-0 loss at Chenango Valley Tuesday, while the Blue Raiders tied Elmira, 1-1, Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER
Athens (4-3) vs Liverpool, noon @ Oneonta Soccer Complex:
The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 2-1 win at Williamson, while the Lady Warriors dropped a 2-0 decision at West Genesee.

VOLLEYBALL
Waverly at Owego Tournament, 9 a.m.:
Waverly will compete in Pool A against Owego, Vestal, and Candor.

Maine-Endwell, Elmira, Harpursville, and Lansing will comprise Pool B.

Danville (1-6) at Athens (2-4), 11 a.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats are coming off a five-set loss to Marathon Thursday, while the Lady Ironmen beat Shenandoah Valley, 3-1, for its first win of the season.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Waverly at Watkins Glen Invite, 9 a.m.:
It’s Day 2 of the rugged event that also includes Notre Dame, Elmira, Lansing, Shenendehowa, Skaneateles, Walkill, Fairport, Albany Academies, Hilton, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Corning, Southern Cayuga, Horseheads, Whitney Point, and host Watkins Glen.
