ATHENS - Athens scored three first-half goals, and that was more than enough in a 3-0 win over Northeast Bradford here Tuesday afternoon in NTL girls soccer action at Alumni Stadium.
"I thought we had a little bit of a down game after a tough game on Saturday," said Athens coach Rich Pitts.
"We did some nice things on our goals, but couldn’t match our intensity we had Saturday.
"Overall. we will take the win and go back to training and prepare for Troy," added Pitts.
Freshman Brinley Nichols, off a feed from sophomore Lizzie Gorsline, scored in the seventh minute to give the Lady Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Olivia Thompson, off an assist from Amber Galvin, found the back of the net with 14 minutes remaining in the half to push the lead to 2-0.
Nichols found the net again in the 34th minutes to finish off the scoring. Senior Kendra Merrill was credited with an assist.
