
Owego diver Kaelyn Katchuk, and Spencer-VanEtten harrier John Garrison both enjoyed record-breaking weeks. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Sept. 23.
OWEGO’S KATCHUK NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Katchuk, a junior, won the 1-meter springboard championship at the Invitational in the Glen at Watkins Glen Saturday, setting three records for 11 dives in the process.
She scored 558.8 points, breaking the meet record and pool record of 546.45. She also broke the Owego Free Academy school record of 523.3. Her score is the second highest in Section IV history.

S-VE’S GARRISON NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Garrison, a senior, broke the course record at Tioga's five-team IAC cross country meet Tuesday, posting a time of 16:54. That time surpassed the previous record by more than 20 seconds.
On Saturday, Garrison won the Owego Invitational with a time of 15:51, besting a field of 150 competitors. He has not lost a 5K race this season.
