
MONTGOMERY - Freshman Eli Hicks shot the low round of the day, but Athens finished second Wednesday afternoon at the District 4, Class 3A team championships here at White Deer Golf Club.
Jersey Shore won the team title with a four-player aggregate score of par 319 (31-over par), just five strokes ahead of Athens. Selinsgrove was third at 343, and Milton was fourth at 289.
Hicks shot a 2-over par round of 74 that included birdies on the 340-yard, par-4 first hole, the 486-yard, par-5 14th hole, and the 443-yard, par-5 18th hole.
Senior Evan Cooper tied for third place, shooting a round of 79 for the Wildcats, with a birdie on the 18th hole, while junior Dylan Saxon placed ninth with an 83, including a birdie on the 360-yard, par-4 ninth hole.
Senior Nicholas Jacob added a round of 88, and junior Brady Darrow tacked on a non-scoring round of 89.
All five of Athens’ golfers will complete at the District 4 individual championships next week.
