ENDWELL — Maine-Endwell scored four first-half goals and cruised to a 5-1 win over Tioga here Thursday night in Section IV field hockey action.
Sophia Tiberi scored late in the first quarter to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead, then Leah Josey scored in the opening minute of the second quarter to up the advantage to 2-0
Josey and Tiberi added goals about 2 1/2 minutes apart to give M-E a 4-0 lead with seven minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Sara Howard made it 5-0 with 6:31 remaining in the third quarter.
Junior McKenzie Williams, off an assist from Abbie Engelbert, put Tioga on the board late in the third quarter.
M-E had an 21-2 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 13-2 edge in penalty corners.
Senior Chloe Gillette recorded 16 saves in the cage for the Lady Tigers.
Tioga, now 2-8, returns to action Saturday morning at Walton.
