Valley Sports Report
TIOGA CENTER - Tioga senior Tyler Roe led the Tigers to their first IAC South Small School Division title since 2015 and was named the divisional MVP in recent voting by its coaches.

Roe, who finished his varsity career with a 65 goals, tallied 30 goals and three assists on the season, and multiple games with four and five goals.

Roe, who is extremely quick with the ball at his feet, is a whirling dervish of offensive energy. He possesses a high soccer IQ, a strong leg, and a limitless motor.

"Tyler was an integral part of the Tioga team and will be missed," said Tioga coach Adam Layman. "Tyler and the other two seniors were the group that I started coaching with and it will be sad to not see him on the field.

"He was a great leader in his captain role," added Layman.

FIRST TEAM
Ethan Landmesser, senior, Tioga:
A heady and physical defender, Landmesser also made his presence felt on the offensive end, where he scored two goals and dished out two assists.

"Landy was our lockdown defender," said Layman. "We always knew if that the ball was coming his way he would be there to stop it, possess it, or get it to the feet of our offense.

"He will also be a player that I will be sad to not see on the field for Tioga," he added.

Jake Browne, junior, Tioga: An athletic and intuitive keeper, Browne was also a vocal leader on the defensive end of the field.

"Jake started with me after coming from football just two seasons ago," said Layman. "He had never played soccer a day in his life, but is a gifted athlete, so we trained him on goal.

"When he was in the net, I knew he had control and would do his best to keep our goal differential low," added Layman.

He posted three shutouts, and two one-goal games in help Tioga to a 7-7-2 record and a division title.

SECOND TEAM
Brady Landmesser, sophomore, Tioga:
The younger Landmesser scored three goals, and dished out six assists.

"Brady started as a freshmen in the center of our field," said Layman. "This season, he stayed in the center to help control the ball and distribute to the needed players.

"Brady improved from last year to this, and I am excited for the rest of his career," added Layman.

James Miller, sophomore, Tioga: Miller tallied six goals on the season, and doled out three assists.

"James came to us as a transfer his freshman year, and didn’t have much experience with soccer," said Layman. "He’s been a great addition to the squad. From last year to this year, James has improved immensely and was a key player on the field.

"James took a change in role a few times throughout the season and did a fantastic job at the different roles," noted Layman. "I am excited to see where he goes with his career."

Brandon Rafferty, senior, Tioga:
"Brandon again is one of my seniors that I first started with and will miss," said Layman. "His career was great to see as he improved from year to year, and became a vital part of our defensive line.

"Brandon was another lock down defender for us," added Layman.
