THE VALLEY - The last two events on the fall schedule are Saturday as Waverly and Tioga play for state championships on the gridiron, while the winter schedule also begins this week in New York State with bowling, boys swimming, and wrestling all on the docket.
There are 10 events on the docket this week, including four on Saturday, and three on Friday.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (0)
There are no events on the schedule.
TUESDAY (1)
• The Tioga boys and girls bowling teams travel to O-M for the first event of the winter season.
WEDNESDAY (1)
• The Waverly boys take on Chenango Forks in the program’s first swim meet since joining the STAC.
THURSDAY (1)
• The Tioga bowling teams take on Sidney in their best home match of the season.
FRIDAY (3)
• The Tioga girls host Athens on the hardwoods in the season-opener for both teams.
• The Sayre boys open the basketball season at the two-day Bradford-Susquehanna County Challenge at Wyalusing Valley H.S.
• The Sayre girls basketball team opens the 2023-24 campaign at the two-day Bradford-Susquehanna County Challenge at Blue Ridge H.S.
SATURDAY (4)
• Tioga will play for its third consecutive Class D state title against Stillwater at the JMA Wireless Dome (formerly the Carrier Dome) in Syracuse. Game time is noon.
• Waverly will play for the first state title in program history against Fonda-Fultonville at the JMA Wireless Dome (formerly the Carrier Dome) in Syracuse. Game time is 6 p.m.
