VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S TOMASSO, KEATHLEY, AND TIOGA'S MACUMBER NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2023-11-28)

THE VALLEY — Senior Joey Tomasso and junior Kolsen Keathley led Waverly to its first-ever New York State Championship football game, while senior Drew Macumber was an integral part in putting Tioga in position for a Class D three-peat. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Nov. 25.

Tomasso completed 18 of 20 passes for 303 yards, and three TDs — the third and final TD pass being the 100th of his career - in a 42-0 win over Salamanca in the New York State Class C semifinals.

Tomasso was limited in the ground game after suffering a knee injury in the quarter, but his two carries for 5 yards, resulted in a 1-yard TD run, and a key third-down conversion.

Keathley had six catches for 135 yards and two TDs — a 10-yard TD catch to end the first half, and a 92-yard TD reception to start the second half. He also had one carry for six yards and a TD.

Defensively, Keathley had eight tackles, including two tackles-for-loss.

Macumber led Tioga to a 63-16 win over Clymer-Sherman-Panama in the Class D semifinals, rushing for 250 yards, and four TDs on 26 carries. He ran for TDs of 30, 13, 5, and 38 yards.

Defensively, Macumber had seven tackles, including one tackle-for-loss.
