Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY - The winter season tips off Friday night for five Valley teams with three hoop games, including a Tioga-Athens girls match-up, and a wrestling tournament in Horseheads.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Athens at Tioga, 6 p.m. (Varsity only): The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 14-9 season, while the Lady Tigers were 1-18.
Bradford-Susquehanna Counties Challenge
Sayre vs. Susquehanna, 6 p.m. @ Blue Ridge H.S.: The Lady Redskins are coming off a 4-18 season, while the Sabers were 2-18.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Bradford-Susquehanna Counties Challenge
Sayre vs. Blue Ridge, 6 p.m. @ Wyalusing H.S.: The Redskins are coming off a 12-12 season that featured the first NTL Small School Division title in program history, while the Raiders are coming off a 17-4 season, and are currently ranked 8th in the State.
Blue Ridge won last year’s meeting, 86-70.
WRESTLING
Sayre at the Mark Stephens Classic, 5 p.m. @ Horseheads M.S.: Sayre, with just three wrestlers on its roster, will taken Canisteo-Greenwood, Ithaca, and Bolivar-Richburg on Day 1 of the dual tournament.
