JIM THORPE, Pa. - The Athens G.R.I.P Powerlifting boys team placed second, and the girls team, led by state champion Hannah Berger, finished third here Sunday at the Pa. State High School Powerlifting Championships.

"This team showed up, and showed out," said G.R.I.P. coach Niko Hulslander. "Amongst 197 registered lifters and a total of 15 other schools across the state, these lifters brought their best to the platform."

Joining Berger on the podium were second-place finishers Lorelei Golden and Treyvon Simpson, third-place finishers Simon Beeman, and 7th-grader Stevie Berger, fifth-place finisher Tanner Dorman, and sixth-place finisher Shawn Labar.

In the JV division, Keegan Freeman finished seventh, and Joey Whipple was 11th.

Individual results are as follows (SQ = squat, BP = bench press, and DL = dead lift):
Hannah Berger: SQ= 240, BP= 100, DL = 325
Lorelei Golden: SQ= 190, BP= 110, DL= 270
Stevie Berger: SQ= 160, BP= 95, DL= 230
Joey Whipple: SQ= 165, BP= 100, DL= 250
Tanner Dorman: SQ= 135, BP= 135, DL= 235
Keegan Freeman: SQ= 240, BP= 135, DL= 300
Shawn Labar: SQ= 340, BP= 240, DL= 405
Simon Beeman: SQ= 405, BP= 260, DL= 435
Treyvon Simpson: SQ= 440, BP= 230, DL= 445

"I’m truly proud of each and every one of these lifters," said Hulslander. "There has been so much improvement both on and off the platform.

"There were many PRs set yesterday, and so much perseverance over some challenging times," he added.
