Wellsboro freshman Piper Hoprich earned a pair of state medals in her first trip to the PIAA Track & Field Championships, and Corning senior Nolan Terwilliger pitched the Hawks into the state playoffs. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending May 25.

A week after winning District 4 titles in the 100- and 200-meter sprints, Hoprich made it to the podium in both events at Pa. state meet at Shippensburg University.
Hoprich won a bronze medal in the 200-meter dash, clocking in with a time of 25.57 seconds. She earned a fourth-place medal in the 100-meter dash in 12.23 seconds — just .03 seconds off the bronze medal.

CORNING’S TERWILLIGER NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS’ "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Terwilliger was a key component in Corning besting Elmira 2 games to 1 in the best-of-three series for the Section IV, Class AAA title.
In the deciding game, Terwilliger spun a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in Corning’s 3-0 win over Elmira.
Terwilliger also earned the win in Game 1, allowing two runs — one earned — on four hits, while striking out four.
In two games, Terwilliger allowed one earned run in 12 innings, while striking out 15.
