Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The fall sports season shifts into overdrive this week in the Valley in an extremely busy week that will feature a rare Thursday night football game at Waverly.
There are 39 events on the docket this week, including 12 on Tuesday, and nine on Thursday.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (3)
• Tioga is on the road to take on longtime IAC rival SVEC.
TUESDAY (12)
• Tioga volleyball plays its first dual of the season, hosting Newark Valley.
• The Waverly girls swim their first dual of the season, at home against Greene.
• The Waverly girls host Oneonta on the pitch, under the lights, at Memorial Stadium
• Sayre volleyball hosts Cowanesque Valley.
• The Tioga boys host Newfield on the pitch at Haggerty Field in their fifth game in eight days to start the season.
• Athens and Sayre golfers are in action the NTL’s fifth match of the season, this week at the River Valley Country Club in Westfield, Pa.
WEDNESDAY (4)
• Waverly hosts STAC boys soccer rival Susquehanna Valley under the lights at Memorial Stadium.
THURSDAY (9)
• Waverly football hosts Binghamton at Memorial Stadium.
• The Athens girls take on non-league soccer foe Dallas on the pitch at Alumni Stadium.
• Sayre volleyball hosts Williamson.
• Athens volleyball hosts Wellsboro.
FRIDAY (5)
• Tioga football puts its 42-game win streak on the line at home against Windsor.
• Sayre football hosts Cowanesque Valley at the Lockhart Street Bowl.
• Athens, Waverly, and Owego are both in action at the Owego Night Cross Country Invite.
• The Athens boys host North Penn-Liberty on the pitch at Alumni Stadium.
• Tioga field hockey hosts Marathon.
SATURDAY (6)
• Athens is on the road to face NTL football power Troy.
• Tioga hosts its annual volleyball tournament.
• Tioga field hockey hosts Windsor in its second game in as many days.
