STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: WAVERLY WINS ALL 10 EVENTS IN 103-20 WIN OVER GREENE (2024-09-10)

WAVERLY — Waverly won all 10 events, and were 1-2 or better in all seven individual events, in a 103-20 win over Greene in non-league girls swimming action.

Junior Mira Kittle and freshman Lauryn Welles were triple-winners for the Wolverines, while junior Oliva Cheresnowsky, and 8th-grader Natalie Steick, Audrey Kellogg, Megan Atanasoff, and Brynna Twedt were double-winners.

Kittle, Cheresnowsky, Welles, and Steck teamed to win the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:57.07.

Kittle and Cheresnowsky also teamed with Kellogg and Atanasoff to win the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.85.

Kittle won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.91 seconds, while Atanasoff was second in 25.66 seconds, and Cheresnowsky was third in 26.11 seconds.

Welles and Atanasoff teamed with teamed with Twedt and 8th-grader Ayla Wheeler to win the 400-yard freestyle in time of 3:49.41.

Welles won the 100-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 58.62 seconds, while Wheeler was second in 1:03.41, and senior Elizabeth Robinson was third in a personal-best time of 1:04.31.

Kellogg won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:37.28, while Steck was second in 2:40.54, and Twedt was third in 2:48.73. All three swam personal-best times.

Twedt won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:19.48, and Wheeler was second in 1:24.48.

Steck won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:18.83, and Welles was second in 1:24.83.

Robinson won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:20.73, and Veda Harmon was second in 2:43.62.

Sophie Williams won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:14.79, and Harmon was second in 7:15.26.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday at Norwich.
