NTL BOYS SOCCER: ATHENS ERUPTS FOR FIVE FIRST-HALF GOALS IN 5-0 WIN OVER TROY (19 PHOTOS) (2024-09-10)

EAST TROY — Athens erupted for five first-half goals to snap a four-game losing skein with a 5-0 win over Troy here Tuesday afternoon in NTL boys soccer action.
“First-half goals, and a clean sheet,” said Athens coach Jake Lezak. “I’m very happy with the result, and the way the boys played.
Senior Troy Rosenbloom scored early to give the Wildcats a quick 1-0 lead.
Rosenbloom scored again, this time off a feed from senior Josh Leonard, to make it 2-0 with 25:05 remaining in the first half.
Just 43 seconds later, junior Chase Ingram, off an assist from Rosenbloom, scored to extend the lead to 3-0.
Six minutes later, sophomore Brycen Wood scored to push the lead to 4-0.
Sophomore Kam Wheeler capped the scoring with 6:12 remaining in the first half.
Athens had a 10-1 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore Zach Fisher recorded one save in net for the Wildcats.
Athens, now 2-4, hosts North Penn-Liberty Friday.
