League winners, Sectional and District titles and a State Championship highlight a phenomenal volleyball season in our area. With that, The Sports Reports presents the All-Region teams and individual award winners.
Senior Phoebe Swartz and sophomore Emmi Makie proved a potent 1-2 punch and led Candor to a New York State, Class D title. They share The Sports Reports Volleyball "Player of the Year" honors.
Swartz was a floor general in the truest sense of the word, was also a presence at the net and at the service line, registering 493 setter assists on the season, to go along with 250 service points, including 70 aces, 67 kills, 14 blocks and 120 digs.
Makie was a force at the net, led the team at the service line and could play defense as well, racking up 290 points with 91 aces, 198 kills, 15 blocks, 69 digs and 10 assists.
Candor’s Pam Quinlan coached her Coyotes to a 16-1 record this season. The Sports Reports Volleyball "Coach of the Year" won another IAC Small School title, her 13th Section IV title and fourth New York State Class D championship.
"Offensive Player of the Year" Gracee Work led Corning to a sectional title. The senior racked up 247 kills, 224 digs, 41 assists, 13 blocks and had a 92-percent serve rate.
Wellsboro senior Paige Logsdon is the "Defensive Player of the Year" after collecting 56 blocks on the season as she helped the Lady Hornets to a District IV Class 2A championship, adding 165 kills, 160 points with 54 aces and 66 digs.
North Penn-Liberty’s Claire Dominick is the "Newcomer of the Year." The sophomore finished her first season for the rebuilding Lady Mounties with 144 kills, 201 service points, 64 aces, 301 digs and 13 assists.
