STAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY ROLLS TO 67-21 NON-LEAGUE WIN OVER SIDNEY (2025-01-06)

WAVERLY — Waverly got off to a fast start, and rolled to a 67-21 non-league win over Sidney here Saturday afternoon in junior varsity boys basketball action.
Braiden Judson and Sam Cheresnowsky each canned a 3-pointer, and scored seven points, and Drew Croft added four points in a game-opening 22-5 blitz for the Wolverines.
Judson scored seven more points in the second quarter, Cheresnowsky added four points, and Collin Wheeler drained a 3-pointer to fuel a 20-8 run that put the Wolverines up 42-13 at the halftime intermission.
Croft hit a 3-pointer in the third quarter, but Sidney outscored Waverly, 8-7, to trim the deficit to 49-21 heading into the final seven minutes.
Croft connected on a pair of shots from behind the arc in the fourth quarter, while Cheresnowsky also scored six points, and Axel Murray added four in a game-closing 18-0 blitz.
Cheresnowsky had 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, five steals, and two blocked shots, and Judson had 16 points, six rebounds — all on the offensive glass, three assists, and three steals to lead Waverly.
Croft had 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and three assists in the win, while Murray added eight points, 10 rebounds, and one blocked shot, Chase Wheeler chipped in with four points, three boards, four steals, and one block, Collin Wheeler grabbed five boards, and Logan Streeter chipped in with three rebounds.
Waverly returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Chenango Forks.
