ELMIRA — Sophomore Jordan Brown earned Sayre's only wins on Day 1 of the third annual Southern Tier Memorial Wrestling Tournament here at the LeCom Center.
Brown lost his first match in the 170-pound bracket, a 9-4 decision to Owego standout Bobby Struble.
He bounced back with 17-0 technical fall win over Wyoming Area's James Bates, and followed it up with a 51-second pin of Corning's Clayton Smith.
Brown's tournament came to an end with a 4-0 loss to Chambersburg's Isaiah Tasker in the fifth round of the consolation wrestlebacks.
Junior Caleb Grover was 0-2 at 116 pounds, while senior Damion Barrett was 0-2 at 124 pounds, and senior Theiran Walmsley was 0-2 at 170 pounds.
Action resumes at 9 a.m. Saturday.
