Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — There's a good mix of home basketball games and wrestling matches for the Valley schools this week as the second half of the seasons hit full stride.
There are 30 events on the docket this week, including eight on Tuesday, and eight on Wednesday.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (1)
• The unbeaten Waverly girls are on the road at Ithaca in a non-divisional STAC basketball contest.
TUESDAY (8)
• Waverly hosts Class A boys basketball power Seton Catholic.
• Athens hosts NTL boys basketball rival Wyalusing.
• Unbeaten Athens travels to NTL power Towanda in a key wrestling dual.
• Waverly hosts STAC rival Oneonta in the pool.
• The Tioga bowlers host Watkins Glen at the Valley Bowling Center.
WEDNESDAY (8)
• Tioga hosts Waverly and Elmira in a girls wrestling trip-meet.
• Sayre hosts NTL Small School girls basketball rival North Penn-Liberty.
• The Waverly girls host Seton Catholic in a divisional hoop contest.
• The Waverly bowling teams host STAC rivals Windsor at the Valley Bowling Center.
THURSDAY (4)
• Athens wrestling will host North Penn-Liberty in the old gym.
• The Athens boys will host Wellsboro on hardwoods in the new gym.
• The Sayre boys host Canton in a key NTL Small School basketball match-up.
• Waverly hosts Unadilla Valley-Unatego in a non-league wrestling match.
FRIDAY (5)
• The Tioga boys are on the road against longtime IAC Small School basketball rival S-VE.
• Waverly travels to STAC Central Division boys hoop rival Owego.
SATURDAY (4)
• Tioga hosts Waverly in a non-league wrestling match.
• The Waverly boys are on the road at S-VE for a non-league hoop tilt.
