NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: ATHENS RIDES FAST START TO 44-37 WIN OVER WYALUSING (2025-01-15)

ATHENS — Athens jumped out to a 10-point first-quarter lead on its way to a 44-37 win over Wyalusing here Tuesday night in NTL Large School junior varsity boys basketball action.
Eli Hobday knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and scored eight points, and Lucas Schultz drilled a 3-pointer to fuel Athens' 14-4 run in the opening stanza.
Wyalusing outscored the Wildcats, 13-9, in the second quarter to close the gap to 23-17 at the halftime intermission.
Hobday and Schultz scored five points apiece, each hitting a 3-pointer, to help Athens to an 11-9 scoring advantage in the third quarter. The Wildcats led 34-26 entering the final seven minutes.
Hobday scored five more points in the fourth quarter, and Aiden Vanderpool added a 3-pointer as Athens secured the win.
Hobday led Athens with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, while Schultz scored 10 points, and Kam Wheeler and Vanderpool chipped in with five points apiece.
Athens, now 9-3, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Wellsboro.
