SAYRE — North Penn-Liberty forced turnovers, and converted them into points on its way to a 43-9 win over Sayre here Wednesday night in NTL Small School girls basketball action.
The Redskins committed 29 turnovers in the loss.
The Mountaineers jumped out to an 11-2 lead after the first eight minutes, then used an 11-4 run in the second quarter to make it 22-6 at the half.
NP-Liberty put the game away with a 14-0 third-quarter blitz.
The Redskins also suffered through an ice-cold shooting night, making just 9.8 percent (4 of 41) of their shots from the field, and 11 percent (1 of 11) from the free-throw line.
Senior Abbie McGaughey led Sayre with seven points, six rebounds, and one blocked shot, while junior Rylee Lantz had eight rebounds, two assists, and one blocked shot, and junior Liz Hunter had three boards, two assists, and one blocked shot.
Haley Litzelman led NP-L with 19 points, and Kaylee Graham added 16 points.
Sayre, now 1-9, returns to action Friday at Canton.
