IAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: TIOGA'S THREE-GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED BY S-VE (2025-01-20)

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga's three-game win streak, which included wins over Groton, Marathon and Newfield, was snapped by a 21-19 loss to Spencer-VanEtten here Friday in IAC junior varsity girls basketball action.

S-VE 21, Tioga 19

Tioga's fourth-quarter comeback against S-VE fell just short in a 21-19 loss Friday.

The Panthers led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, and 7-2 at the half.

S-VE stretched its lead to 17-10 after three quarters, but Irie Lynch knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points in the final stanza in a 9-4 spurt.

Lynch led Tioga with 10 points — all in the second half, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Bri Lounsbury added five points.

Tioga 46, Groton 33
At Tioga, Tioga overcame a slow start, and pulled away for a 46-33 win over Groton Tuesday.

The Red Hawks led 10-6 after the first quarter, but Tioga had six different players in the scoring column in the second quarter in a 10-4 run that gave the Tigers a 16-14 lead at the half.

Irie Lynch canned a 3-pointer and scored five points in the this quarter, and Lydiah Decker had four points in a 13-8 spurt that extended the Tioga lead to 29-22 entering the final seven minutes.

Bri Lounsbury had six points, including a 3-pointer, in the fourth quarter, while Lynch added five points, including a 3-pointer, and Emily Zwierlein added four points in a game-closing 17-11 run.

Lynch led Tioga with 14 points, while Lounsbury scored 10 points, and Decker and Zwierlein added six points apiece.

Tioga 29, Marathon 20

At Tioga, Tioga closed the game with a 14-1 run to pull out a 29-20 win over Marathon on Jan. 10

Marathon led 7-4 after the first quarter, and led 15-8 at the half.

Tioga used a 7-4 spurt in the third quarter to close the gap to 19-15.

In the fourth quarter, Bri Lounsbury and Irie Lynch scored six points apiece to fuel the decisive 14-1 run.

Lynch led Tioga with 12 points, while Lounsbury scored 10 points, and Zwierlein added four points.

Tioga 36, Newfield 20
At Newfield, Tioga battled to a four-point lead at the half, then pulled away in the second half for a 36-20 win over Newfield on Jan. 7.

Four different players found the scoring column in the first quarter, and led 8-5.

Lydiah Decker canned a 3-pointer and scored seven points in the second quarter in a 9-8 advantage that made it 17-13 at the half.

Irie Lynch scored four points in the third quarter to spark a 9-3 spurt that extended the lead to 26-16 lead heading into the final seven minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Bri Lounsbury scored four points to fuel a 10-4 game-closing run.

Decker led a balanced Tioga attack with 11 points, while Lynch scored eight points, Lounsbury added six points, and Sadi Marshall chipped in with four points.
