IAC WRESTLING: TIOGA CROWNS FOUR CHAMPS, FOUR RUNNERS-UP IN SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-01-25)

WATKINS GLEN — Tioga crowned four champs, had four runners-up, and four more place third or fourth to earn second place here Saturday at the IAC Wrestling Championships at the Watkins Glen Field House.

Newark Valley won the team title with 191.5 points, while Tioga tallied 183 points, Schuyler was third with 144 points, Moravia was fourth with 119.5 points, and SVEC was fifth with 118.5 points.

Senior Tate MaCauley, junior Jayden Duncanson, sophomore Declan McKee, and 8th-grader Liamm Comstock each won their weight class, while senior Austin Babcock, junior Logan Bellis, and freshmen Drake Ulrich and Mark McCane were runners-up.

Sophomore Max Stauder and 8th-grader Parker Jackson each placed third for the Tigers, while junior Maxwell Paugh and sophomore James Howey both placed fourth, freshman Jamie Woodcock finished fifth, and sophomore Kaydin Quinn placed sixth.

MaCauley, who is down to 215 pounds and was the top seed. He went 3-0, including a pair of second-period pins. He received a medical forfeit in the finals from Babcock, who scored a pair of pins to reach the finals.

Duncanson, the top seed at 145 pounds, went 3-0 to claim the title.

Duncanson opened with an injury default win, then scored a 21-5 technical fall win over SVEC's Kaden Jameson.

In the finals, Duncanson pinned Marathon's Brendan Gummer in 1:30.

McKee, the top seed at 108 pounds, was 3-0 with all three via first-period fall. His pins came in 19 seconds, 1:34, and 58 seconds.

Also at 108 pounds, Jackson, who lost to McKee in the semifinals, scored a fall in the quarterfinals, then had falls in the consolation semifinals, and the third-place match.

Comstock, the seventh seed at 101, scored a 6-0 win over second-seed John-Michael Bohling of SVEC in the quarterfinals, then pinned third-seed Kenny Slater of Newark Valley in 5:05 in the semifinals.

In the finals, Comstock pulled out a 4-3 win over Ulrich, who was the top seed.

Ulrich scored a 14-1 win over teammate Harold Corby in the quarterfinals, and an 18-2 technical fall win over Trumansburg's Brody McLennan in the semifinals.

Bellis, the top seed at 124 pounds, scored a 43-second gall of Dryden's William Woodward in the quarterfinals, and an 18-0 technical fall win over fourth-seeded Brennan Zimmer of SVEC in the semifinals.

Bellis issued a medical forfeit to Newark Valley's Trevor Middendorf in the finals.

McCane, the second seed at 285 pounds, scored pins in 64 and 47 seconds to reach the finals, where he lost via first-period fall to top-seeded Austin DeBolt of Newark Valley.

Stauder, the third seed at 170 pounds, was 3-1 to finish third.

Stauder won his opening match via technical fall, but lost via tech fall in the semifinals.

Stauder bounced back with a 59-second fall, then scored an 11-2 major decision over Schuyler's Nick D'Alleva in the third-place match.

Paugh finished fourth, and Quinn was sixth in the 285-pound weight class. Paugh was 2-2, and issued a medical forfeit in the third-place match, while Quinn was 1-3 with his lone win a 3-0 decision over Schuyler's Declan Barry.

Howey was 3-2 to finish fourth in the 190-pound bracket.

Howey won his opening-round match via fall, then topped Schuyler's Joey Chamberlain in an 11-3 major decision in the quarterfinals.

After a loss to top-seeded Dikota Hamilton of Trumansburg in the semifinals.

Howey bounced back with a pin of SVEC's Kaden Sims in 1:24 in the consolation semifinals, but lost via first-period fall to Edison's Caleb Southard in the third-place match.

Woodcock was 4-2 to finish fifth in the 285-pound bracket.

Woodcock scored two falls, and received two medical forfeits.

Corby, an 8th-grader, was 1-2 at 101 pounds. His lone win was a pin of Schuyler's Caden Hall in 1:22 in the opening round.

Tioga returns to action with a dual at Moravia Thursday.
