YOUTH WRESTLING: WAVERLY’S FISKE COMPETES IN STATE DUALS (2025-02-03)

WHITESBORO, N.Y. — Waverly youth wrestler Amelia Fiske competed in the New York State All-Section All-Star Duals here Jan. 4-5.

Fiske, one of two girls on the Section IV team, competed at 130 pounds as the Southern Tier-based squad placed third in the 10-team K6 tournament.

She opened with a forfeit win in a 47-39 loss to Section XI and also received a forfeit victory as Section IV downed Section I, 49-45, to claim the team bronze.

Fiske recorded a 17-1 technical fall over Nick Rocco of Section VI before suffering her lone loss, a fall in 1:25 against Vincent Darch from Section V Gold. He went undefeated and was named to the all-tournament team. Section IV won that dual, 50-30, then topped Section III Silver, 64-30, with Fiske pinning Brock Keeler in 41 seconds.

In the semifinals, she decked Leiland White from Section III Gold in 1:29. The Gold won the match, 59-32, and went on to claim the team title.

Waverly’s Amelia Wright competed in the All-Star Open, placing second in the 12U 117-125 division. She pinned Nick Rocco of Salamanca in 1:10 and dropped a 9-4 decision to Gouverneur’s Gabriel Hitchcock.
