
NEWFIELD — Newfield erupted for 51 points in the first half on its way to an 80-47 win over TIoga here Tuesday night in IAC Small School boys basketball action.
The Trojans jumped out to a 26-13 first-quarter lead, then outscored Tioga 25-15 in the second quarter to take a 51-28 lead into the halftime locker room.
Junior James Miller led Tioga with 11 points int the first half, including nine in the first quarter, while sophomore Gavin Kithcart, and senior Trystan Barto, who canned a pair of 3-pointers, added six points apiece.
The Trojans outscored Tioga, 17-8, in the third quarter, and 12-11 in the fourth quarter.
Miller led Tioga with 18 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and four rebounds, while Kithcart had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore Jackson Bombard had six points on a pair of 3-pointers, six assists, two steals, and two blocked shots.
Barto added six points and three assists for the Tigers, while junior Dominic Palmer added a 3-pointer, three rebounds, and three blocked shots, and Carter Stoughton chipped in with three rebounds.
Tioga, now 6-11, returns to action Thursday at S-VE.
