IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: UNION SPRINGS TAKES BIG LEAD EARLY, CRUISES TO 78-40 WIN OVER TIOGA (2025-02-07)

TIOGA CENTER — Union Springs took control in the opening minutes and rolled to a 78-40 win over Tioga here Friday night in IAC boys basketball action.

The Wolves erupted offensively in the first quarter, and led 30-5 after the opening eight minutes.

Tioga sophomore Gavin Kithcart scored eight points in the second quarter, while junior Brady Landmesser scored six points, and junior Dominic Palmer added four as Tioga outscored US 18-10 to close the gap to 40-23 at the half.

The Wolves ended any doubts of a Tioga comeback with a 22-12 scoring advantage in the third quarter.

Junior James Miller canned a pair of 3-pointers, and Palmer also scored six points for the Tigers in the third quarter.

Union Springs closed the game with a 16-5 run in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Jackson Bombard led Tioga with five points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and two blocked shots, while Miller had 10 points and six rebounds, and Palmer scored 10 points.

Kithcart had nine points, 15 rebounds and two steals for Tioga, while Ladnmesser added six points and one blocked shot, and senior Trystan Barto grabbed three boards.

Aaron Johnson led Union Springs with 26 points.

Tioga, now 6-12, hosts S-VE Tuesday.
